Cookie Policy
This page explains cookies and browser storage. For other personal data, read the Privacy Policy.
Cookies and browser storage
The website does not use profiling cookies. Google Analytics starts only if you accept (explained below). here.now, which hosts the site, also records technical visit data without profiling cookies: you will find that below and, together with the other data, in the Privacy Policy. The diary stores a small technical reminder in your browser (whether you have already seen the page-turning tip): it is not a cookie and I do not receive it. You can delete it in your browser settings. The free Lab tools (QR code, background removal and net salary calculator) work in your browser: your photos and numbers are not uploaded anywhere.
Technical tools (no consent needed)
The Lab’s “Remove background” tool stores AI models already downloaded from the website in the browser cache (Cache Storage), so you do not have to download them again each time. The website also remembers your cookie choice (in localStorage: whether you accepted or declined statistics, and when), so it does not ask on every page; it asks again after 6 months.
They are all technical tools, used only to make what you ask for work: that's why your consent isn't needed (art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code and the Garante's Cookie Guidelines of 10 June 2021). You can delete them whenever you like from your browser settings, by clearing site data.
Hosting statistics (here.now)
The site is hosted by here.now (Beanstalk AI, Inc., United States). To keep the site working, prevent abuse and show me a summary of visits, here.now records technical data about each request. It does not use profiling cookies or advertising tools on this site: this information comes from requests to the server, not from a cookie in your browser.
These statistics are part of how the hosting works, so they do not depend on the cookie banner and they are separate from Google Analytics (which starts only if you accept). I see them in the here.now dashboard.
- What here.now records, as it explains in its privacy policy: the path of the page requested; the site or domain you arrived from; an approximate country; whether the page was found or not (for example a 404 error); the type of content; whether the request comes from a known automated program (such as Googlebot); and a daily code used to count visitors without showing your IP address.
- What I see: daily totals of views and visitors; the most requested pages; where visits come from; the countries; automated programs; pages that were not found; and when the last activity was. I do not see your IP address and I do not know who you are.
- How long: here.now keeps the individual details for a short period, to help fix problems; over time it keeps only the daily summaries. It does not state an exact number of days: the full rules are in its privacy policy and its data processing agreement.
- Legal basis: running and protecting the site (legitimate interest, art. 6.1.f GDPR).
Statistics with Google Analytics (only if you accept)
If you press “Accept” in the cookie banner, I use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages are most interesting, so I can improve the site. If you decline, close the banner with the X or don't choose anything, Google Analytics isn't loaded: no request goes to Google and no cookie is saved. The site works just the same.
- Provided by: Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and Google LLC (United States), which process the data on my behalf as data processors.
- What it collects: the pages you visit, when and for how long; which site or link you come from; some actions on the page (scrolling, clicks on external links, downloads); device type, operating system, browser, language and screen size; approximate country and city, derived from the IP address. Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store the IP address: it only uses it to estimate the area and then discards it. I only see aggregate statistics, never who you are.
- Cookies:
_ga(tells one visitor from another with a random code) and_ga_followed by the site code (remembers the current visit). Google would make them last 2 years: I've set them to last at most 6 months. - What I've switched off: Google Signals, ad personalisation, the collection of detailed location and device data and data sharing with Google for its own purposes. The site isn't linked to Google Ads or other advertising tools.
- Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR and art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code). You can withdraw it whenever you like, without consequences; withdrawal applies from that moment on.
- Transfer to the USA: Google LLC is based in the United States and participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so the transfer is based on the European Commission's adequacy decision (art. 45 GDPR). You can check its participation on the official Data Privacy Framework website and read how Google applies it on the page Legal frameworks for data transfer.
- For how long: statistics data stays in Google Analytics for at most 2 months, then it's deleted automatically.
- Google's rules: Google privacy e how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
How to change your mind
Click “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of any page: the banner reopens and you can accept or decline. If you decline after accepting, Google Analytics stops and the site deletes its cookies (_ga) from your browser. You can also delete cookies and site data from your browser settings, or install the Google add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
The buttons to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and the other social networks are simple links: the site doesn't load anything from those services. Social networks can use their cookies only after you've clicked and are on their site, according to their privacy policies.
